Joe Karwig, originally from Bremen in Germany, arrived in Cork over thirty years ago with the aim of bringing the wines of his homeland to the south of Ireland.

Catering for restaurants, hotels, pubs, corporate companies and private customers, he has succeeded beyond his wildest dreams.

Joe's personal philosophy reflects that of a true wine lover:

"Life is too short to drink boring wine!"

At Karwig's we specialise in selected and estate bottled wines from all over the world and have built up an impressive list of over 800 wines. Our wines are stocked by top Irish restaurants and some wines are available in select retail outlets and various wine shops around the country. Joe reserves a special place for Riesling, which he regards as the "best white grape in the world".

At Karwig Wines, its all about the wine. We have one of the broadest selections of wine from a wonderful collection of Old World and New World producers. Each and every producer and wine has been personally picked by Joe. The quality of our range of wine is a great source of pride.

Every Saturday, in our comfortable tasting room, we open several bottles for customers to try out. We do our best to have a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere in our shop. We cater for the serious wine connoisseur, the casual wine drinker and everyone in between. We love talking about wine and we pride ourselves on our casual sales approach. We want your visit to be relaxed and enjoyable. And you get to go home with some lovely wine too !

On entering Carrigaline village, take the Crosshaven Road, continue down this road for 1 mile, passing the football pitch and Kerry Bioscience on the right. Directly after Kerry Bioscience, turn right into the Estuary Industrial Estate. Continue straight up this road, passing industrial units on the left and right. You will see a slight bend ahead of you. Karwig Wines is located directly past this on the left hand side. You drive up a short cul-de-sac and Karwig Wines is directly in front of you.
