The major part of their land has been in the hands of the family since the 19th Century. Since that date many generations of winegrowers have passed down from father to son their experience and passion for winemaking.

In this respect they consider themselves to be real artisans, men who are striving to maintain a tradition. For generations they have chosen to use the most straightforward and simplest of techniques, those that are most suited to the soil and that they know will bring out the best in each particular vintage. Chateau Cailley is above all a small group of men and women fired by the same enthusiasm : - by striving to produce wines that will reflect the originality of the vineyard, employing the traditional, artisanal winemaking techniques.

The wines of Chateau Le Maine Martin are rich in different aromas. They are soft, fruity and light, almost creamy, but with sufficient tannins to enable them to keep for up to ten years. Produced from older vines, the wine is full-bodied and complex and is a perfect expression of Merlot and Cabernet produced on this terroir'. Its rich tannins are those naturally present in the grape. Château Le Maine Martin vieilles vignes' has an intense bouquet of black fruit aromas. It is well-balanced with a solid structure and excellent for keeping, although it can be fully appreciated young.

An unrivalled accompaniment for roast chicken turkey and pork. If you can bear to wait for 10-15 years in the case of a good vintage they will reveal all their mellowness, finesse and subtlety.
