Product Details
A producer of much acclaim in the Loire, with most of his holdings on the best sites in the south of the Sancerre area. Jean Max Roger vinifies his grapes from each vineyard separately, truly reflecting the soil characteristics of each site. The wines are wonderful, broad, rich and complex with a perfect balance of acidity and dryness and mouthfuls of fruit. Robert Parker awards him with 4 stars and rates him as “Excellent”

Grape Varietal : Sauvignon Blanc

This cuvée is made from grapes grown on the estate’s oldest vines. It does not come from one terroir in particular; in fact it is most often a blend from a variety of terroirs including “caillottes” and Kimmeridgian marls, both of which have a high proportion of limestone. These vines are managed just as all our other vines are and are harvested during the same period as the other vines as we do not want the grapes to over-ripen. Very long fermentation allows for the development of a maximum of aromas which complement the richness and structure provided by these old vines and their very limited yields. These old vine stocks bear few grapes, but those they bear are of exceptional quality. They lend not only structure and power, but also elegance and finesse to the wine. This wine’s powerful structure is highlighted by ageing of a portion of the cuvée in 400-litre oak barrels. This type of container is the ideal size for getting the most out of the fruitiness of the grape and the characteristics of the oak.

This cuvée boasts an intense, complex nose with scents of fruit and white spring flowers. The attack is soft, round and fat with lovely freshness on the palate. It shows remarkable length with floral and fruity notes, underscored by a touch of vanilla.
