Product Details

The fruit for this wine was driven off our Central Wairau vineyards and the famed Matador Estate of Marlborough. Near perfect weather of consistently mild conditions throughout the vintage ensured that the fruit has been of outstanding quality. Harvesting in the Marlborough region was completed some three weeks earlier than expected, with all fruit reaching optimum maturity, with excellent sugar and acid profiles. The fruit was grown on a variety of canopy training systems, utilised to promote a complexity of aromas and flavours. Uniform ripening was achieved through close attention to soil moisture levels and maximum sunlight penetration throughout the canopy. Upon harvesting the grapes were crushed to Tipper Tanks, where the juice was given several hours of skin contact to aid in the extraction of flavours.Fermentation was slow and cool, promoting maximum aroma and flavour extraction.
