Philip Woollaston is probably more widely known to most New Zealanders as the MP for Nelson for three terms, and the Mayor of Nelson for two. In 1993 during his time as Mayor, he and his wife Chan established a small, boutique vineyard adjacent to Wai-iti River and not far from Brightwater. Philip now manages a company that has about 92 ha of vineyard land of which 45 are already planted.
