Valdavia is a small family farm located in Cuñas, in the valley of Avia River, home of the best wines of Ribeiro. The history of the winery and the vineyard is closely linked to the Monastery of San Clodio, whose domain it originally belonged to, over than 800 years ago. There are just over 2 hectares of vineyard, surrounding the old cellar, which has been restored preserving original materials and architectural elements, and has all the necessary means for the production of quality wines in a perfect fusion of tradition and technology. Its wines, biodynamic production limited, are made from grapes from its vineyards, giving them personality, authenticity and exclusivity.
Cuñas Davia Tinto is a joyful ruby red with a young, purplish profile in the rim. Fresh nose with a good aromatic intensity. Strong wild red fruit and forest fruits, cherries, raspberries, blackberries and wild strawberries over light scents of cocoa, gentle roasts and toasted nuts which come from its time in oak barrels. Pleasant start leading to fruity middle with a background woodiness that provides complexity with redcurrants, plums and figs and tertiary hints of confit fruit and spices.
Long finish with intense but pleasing tannins. Matches perfectly with Galician style octopus, blue fish, grilled meats and earthy casseroles.
